Classic / Colonial Stair Installation Guide
1. Cut stair rails at the proper angle. Set stair posts and lay both top and bottom 2x4s on the treads next to the post and then mark.

2. Lay top and bottom 2x4s next to each other with the top 2 x 4 turned upside down. Align 2 x 4s edges like photo. Mark 5 1//2² on centre, out from centre. Attach Stair Connectors. Notice the bottom 2 x 4 connectors are pointing in the opposite direction as connectors on the top 2 x 4.

3. IMPORTANT: Screw the connectors into the 2x4 vertically a bit first to get it started, then move the screw back to the right angle to finish. DO NOT over tighten, this can cause the connector to move off center. SCREW DOWN SLOWLY TO A SNUG FIT.

4. Make sure the connectors are aligned. Assemble top and bottom 2x4 with balusters First, then attach Full rail section between post.Note: Stair connectors are designed for 30-35 degree angles. Using 26" balusters you will have over 37" rail height. Therefore you may need to run the bottom 2x4 along the side of stringer, rather than on the nose of the treads.
