Stainless Steel Posts and fittings come in two qualities. 304 Grade stainless steel is suitable for most ordinary internal and external uses, and 316 Marine Grade is recommended for outside areas within 5 miles of the sea or around swimming pools.
The stainless steel posts and rails have a 48.3mm diameter and the centre of the posts must be inset 80mm from the edge of the decking
Our ETON Range of Solid Glass Balustrades is available with either a Stainless Steel or an Iroko hardwood handrail. The Eton Range of balustrades only available on level decking and is easy to assemble.
For decks over 600mm from the ground, consult a structural engineer or your local building inspector.
Assembly Instructions for Eton Range of Glass Balustrades
1. The posts and handrail will be supplied to you pre-drilled. We need to know
a) The width of the glass that you require for each section. The width of glass is 50mm less that the distance between the posts. (This allows a 25mm gap between the glass and the post. This gap is required for the glass clamp.) The posts should be no more than 1.5 metres apart if a handrail is used, or 1.4 metres if no handrail is to be installed.
b) The height of the glass you require for each section. We need to know both the height you require and the distance of the glass from the deck. (This is required so that we can drill the hole in the posts for the clamps, such that if the glass were to slip, it would be supported by the top clamp.) As a guideline we recommend that where a handrail is used that there is a 50mm gap between the bottom of the handrail and the top of the glass. Also that there is a 50mm gap between the bottom of the glass and the decking.
c) The overall height of the Balustrade. (This will allow us to cut the stainless steel posts to the correct height).
d) The width between the CENTRES of the posts for each section.
e) A sketch of the whole Balustrade. We are unable to supply fittings for glass that over hangs the decking.
Ordering Glass and Stainless Steel Posts
PLEASE EITHER FAX THIS INFORMATION on 01628 522 541 or EMAIL on sales@haf1.org or TEL on 01628 526995 as well as your stainless steel requirements. This will allow us to quote a price to you, either for the stainless steel alone, or for both the glass and the stainless steel.
2. The glass and the Stainless Steel Posts and Fittings will arrive separately. You should allow around 3 weeks for the receipt of the stainless steel and the glass as it is cut to your size and then tempered.
3. When glass and stainless steel has arrived, first erect the Stainless Steel Posts.
4. Remove the lugs from the glass clamps. These lugs are not required unless the glass over hangs the decking. In the event of the glass slipping, it will only slip to the deck level.
5. Assemble the glass and Glass Clamps.
6. Glue and/or screw the rail and supports to the posts.
